An access log is a comprehensive list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a particular site. Every file which was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have only one page with three embedded graphics, one video and one embedded text file, for instance, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the 6 files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the page. A log normally provides the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s Operating System, worldwide web browser and IP address. Sometimes you may also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your website. The info that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a PC and used to prepare reports on the functionality of a site, in addition to the web statistics that your web hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Cloud Hosting

Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel has a section dedicated to various logs and the access logs are among them. As soon as you sign in to your cloud hosting account and go to this section, you shall find a list of all the domains and subdomains which you have. All it takes to allow the generation of access logs is to press a button that will be available next to every domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you'll be able to save the file to your laptop or computer and look at it or process it with some app. Enabling or disabling the logs takes effect immediately, so if you don't need one, you could stop it with a mouse click from the same exact section of the CP. You will still be able to access the already developed content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it will not take more than several clicks to activate the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The feature can be enabled from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this may be done separately for every single domain or subdomain that you have in your account. Whenever you log in and go to the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each of them. A single click shall activate the log generation and another one shall deactivate it, so you can control this feature with great ease. A Download link in the same section will enable you to save the created content as a text file, that you can then use on your computer system. Even if the logs are disabled, you'll still be able to download the data that's been previously generated.
